This release of Hee-Hee-Tel-Kin is an extraordinary blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon aged with a combination of French and American oak. This wine features pronounced notes of blackberry, cassis and black pepper, with a soft finish of almond and spice. An excellent wine to enjoy whether hunting for elk or just your next great outfit.
This Bordeaux blend (Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) was aged in French and American oak and its name, Hee-Hee-Tel-Kin is an Okanagan Sylix term to describe an elusive and mystical high country Alpine stag.
The wine has the Okanagan stamp; cherries, currents and tobacco, toasted oak and spice, chocolate and sage with peppery spices. It has a fresh entry, then skin tannins really kick in dominating the palate and the fruit underneath. Bitter cocoa, toasted spice and tobacco linger. It has a coarseness that can be softened by serving with food; protein or even just some aged cheese.
Hee-Tel-Kin opens with a touch of meaty reduction before the toasted oak kicks in, mixed with cedar, dried herbs, and black fruit. The attack is rustic with cedary, leafy, blackberry and vanilla. Youthful and straightforward, you can serve this now with grilled lamb or beef, or cellar for two to three years and wait for it to come together.
